Welcome to the Islamic Republic of the United States!? An interesting ruling by the Iowa’s all-male high court says that it’s Ok to fire irresistible workers. Not sure if even the Muslims would go to such extreme lengths! But there maybe a point to the madness…
CNN reports that Iowa Supreme Court has ruled that it is just fine for a boss to fire an employee because of irresistible attraction. Apparently the basis for this ruling is that irresistible people at work can potentially cause marital problems for the boss! The ruling basically suggests that you simply can get fired for just being irresistibly attractive even when you are not flirtatious. Here is how the high-court put it in writing:
“The question we must answer is … whether an employee who has not engaged in flirtatious conduct may be lawfully terminated simply because the boss views the employee as an irresistible attraction.”
The ruling was delivered by the all-male high court in Iowa, and it was written by Justice Edward M. Mansfield. What triggered the ruling was the case of a female Dental assistant who got fired by her boss in 2010 over arguments that her outfits were too tight and potentially revealing.
There is a point in the whole argument, but getting fired for being hot? That seems somewhat over the top. It’s a good ruling for Horney bosses who can’t pull out of the gutter while at work! In the case of dentists, getting rid of the office hottie may not be such bad idea because for sure the clients wouldn’t be very happy if a root canal ends up where a root canal doesn’t belong!!
